10 most stressful things (really)!

I am shocked. The amount of people who are searching on the ‘10 most stressful things in life’ and finding my blog astounds me! So, it encouraged me to delve a little deeper.

Before we do, are there really that many stressed people out there??! And why, oh why, do they turn to the internet for answers before anything else? It puzzles me, and I kind of feel sorry for people who find it easier to ‘google’ an answer to their problems, rather than seek the advice of a professional or a friend…

Nonetheless… when trying to scour the internet for answers on the most stressful things in life, it is easy to get just a little confused. All the lists tend to say similar things…

  • Moving house
  • Getting a divorce
  • Changing jobs
  • Death of a loved one
  • Personal illness

And they all sound familiar, right? So why do we keep trying to confirm that our current situation is amongst the list of the top 10 stressful that one could go through? Why do we seek confirmation that we are suffering, rather than searching for ways to help ourselves?

Sure, lots of shit in life is stressful. Stress is a part of everyday life, but we can all find ways to handle stress that works for us.

My advice… I’m not going to sit here and type out the ways I deal with stress, because they probably won’t work for other people, and then you’ll just think I’m full of bullshit. Instead, talk to friends – use their ’shoulders to cry on’, see a counsellor or psychologist – they are brilliant people who can help you to understand yourself and your emotions. Seeing a professional doesn’t mean you’re crazy or mad, it shows that you care enough to understand yourself. I also suggest meditation – whether you participate in yoga, go to the gym to work up a sweat and rid yourself of frustrations, walk or jog, use meditation aids to relax, go to a meditation class… try it! It might just work for you.

I would love to see the number of people coming to my blog from searching on ‘10 most stressful things’ actually decrease in time.

On another note – I’m not normally the caring type… take advantage of it while you can!
